The Radio Information Service thanks individuals and businesses for their support of radio reading at WIU

MACOMB — The Radio Information Service (RIS), thanks the generous individuals and businesses who have to date donated a total of $3,475 toward the annual “Adopt-A-Paper” fund raiser. “On behalf of the listeners, regional advisory board, and staff, I thank
those who are making ‘headline news’ this year. You are helping individuals in our community who can no longer read due to a visual impairment or disability,” stated Board President, Diane Tichenor. “Additional newspapers and magazines are still available to sponsor. Please contact the service for details.”
  Sponsors will have on-air recognitions (see example below) for an eight month period along with
being thanked on the Website and in the Fall/Winter Guide to Programs and Services. To date, those who have “adopted” radio reading material include: If you have any questions, call 309-298-2403 or email the service at AIS@wiu.edu.

On-air recognition example:
“Today’s reading of USA Today is made possible by the Macomb Lions - serving individuals who are visually impaired for over 46 years.”

  • Serving over 800 individuals who are blind, visually impaired, learning disabled, or physically disabled
  • Over 100 volunteers producing 3,453 program hours
“Adopt-A-Paper” at a glance:
  • Suggested giving level of $100 funds a one hour paper or $50 funds a half hour paper one day a week for eight months
  • Any donation is appreciated!
