Become A Volunteer

Volunteers are needed for the

Radio Information Service (RIS)
Web Streaming Service (WSS)

What Our Volunteers Do

Audio Information Service volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups. They are high school or college students, working individuals, or people who are retired. Some volunteers live outside of the immediate McDonough County area and are normally assigned magazines to record on audiocassettes for the RIS/WSS.

An audition test and orientation session is required before becoming a volunteer reader for RIS/WSS/Call-RIS. The short audition includes reading a newspaper article and a vocabulary list. To schedule an audition, call (309) 298-2403.

Volunteer Application

An application for the RIS/WSS, available at this site (in .doc format for Microsoft Word or .pdf format for Adobe Acrobat Reader), is also required.
